THE TEAPOT is working on an upgrade! The FULLY STEEPED version is ITCH FUNDING: https://marrensmusings.itch.io/the-teapot-fully-steeped

"You were a Teapot, afterall. You knew how to ease these human’s manifold needs and worries. As your Infuser brought over the teacup they just poured, they muttered the common prayer, 'May our tea never go cold.' Tawir responded in kind, a begrudging smile already creeping across his lips, 'And let our community keep us warm.'

The first sip and you could sense his tense shoulders slacken. The second sip, a smile fully finds its home across his lips. By the time the cup was empty, his eyes sparkled once more, deep into reminiscing about his children with the attentive Tea Monk. Your Infuser turned to you, giving a playful wink, before pouring another cup of tea for the now happy Tawir.

You knew humanity well, even if, in many ways, they barely understood you."

The Teapot is a solo journaling game using the Lost & Found system. In it, you will set out on the journey of an Awakened Teapot, a sentient teapot with the ability to distill the latent magical properties of various teas into powerful concoctions. However, you are just a simple Teapot and will be handled by a cast of Tea Infusers, magically gift individuals who work together with you to bring out the best in tea service.

Over the years you pass between different Infusers and see the world of humanity change around you, and assisting the weary and the downtrodden. You will see the rise and fall of empires and tea moguls and eventually find yourself amongst the fallen, the rough and the rugged.

What will your tea leaves look like at the end of the journey? What fond memories will be etched into your clay? What pain did you ease?

"May our tea never go cold and let our community keep us warm."

What you will need to play

This game, something to write down your Teapot's story with, and (optionally, but highly encouraged) a cup of tea or three! Time estimates can vary depending on how fast you play through the game, but roughly an hour or two is expected. If that feels too long, you are encouraged to play the game in smaller bursts.

Lastly, you'll need some music. While this can be anything you'd normally enjoy, something calming and relaxing is advised. There are plenty of great Lo-Fi mixes on YouTube, but if you're wanting a hand crafted and curated playlist and have Spotify, you can find one Here. Enjoy!

Content Warning

As with many Lost & Found games, the experience can be quite sad, lonely, and isolating. You play as an object without any real direct agency, and it can also bring up feelings of being used or unwanted. Please ensure to listen to your own feelings as you play, take any breaks you need, and cry or laugh should that feeling bubble up.

This game is thoroughly inspired by the great work that is the Lost & Found system created by Jack Harrison and Matt Sanders. It was made for the Lost & Found Jam. Be sure to check out all the other amazing games created there Here.

Cover Photo uses the lovely photography of Wallace Chuck. This piece is the "Brown and Gray Teapot," a free to use photo. A filter was added using Canva. You can find more of Wallace's work Here.

Note

This game was made over the Lost & Found Game Jam and, try as hard as I might, will likely contain some spelling and grammar mistakes. If you spot any, do let me know in the comments and I'll be sure to update the file to be correct. It's likely there'll be a nice version of the PDF available next week once I've given myself a small break from the game, with some small edits made. But the game is entirely playable at this stage, so enjoy!
